For over 20 years Corey has worked in both the private sector and government agencies to apply the principles of science based risk management principles to aid decision makers in understanding the complexity of the natural environment and how to apply this to management of resources.   He has a strong track record of building strong teams, both internally and through national and international collaborations to deliver a series of very successful projects and major initiatives that have received national and international recognition.   Corey believes in finding the best people in the world that are pushing the envelope with the application of science and working them as a team to help address issues that we are facing in Alberta.

Through roles as the head of the Alberta Geological Survey (AGS) Corey's focus shifted to how to apply world class science and emerging technologies to aid in land use planning and hazard management in Alberta.  This has led to the development of close ties between the AGS and the Government of Alberta but also with national and international research organizations.    For Corey it has led to ongoing roles as a Scientific Authority/Advisor for the Canadian Space Agency and into an annual expert advisory role with the Norwegian Energy and Water Directorate.
